Description

Old handwritten letter accompanied by its original envelope, visible in the photo. The letter is written in blue ink on a sheet of squared paper, typical of school or personal correspondence from the 1950s/1960s. The cursive handwriting is regular and occupies several lines, with part of the readable content notably mentioning obtaining the "BEPC diploma" and elements of daily life, which testifies to an intimate and personal exchange.

The envelope, also visible, is addressed to "Monsieur Serge Jullien, 34 rue Pavillon, Marseille (1er), Bouches du Rhône". The address is written in blue ink, in neat handwriting. A red stamp, face value 0.25 F, issued by the French post office, is postmarked with the clearly legible date of 1960, and the mention "Drôme" on the postmark. The envelope presents the classic characteristics of correspondence from this period: rectangular format, paper slightly yellowed by time, flap not visible in the photo.

The paper of the letter shows slight traces of handling, folds and signs of use, typical of a period document. No decoration, logo or illustration is visible, the presentation remains sober and true to the aesthetic of personal writings from the mid-20th century. The letter is presented open, revealing several handwritten paragraphs, without illustration or printed header.

The visible content evokes the academic path, efforts to find a job, and the mention of training in "accounting", placing the letter well in a context of daily life, probably of a young adult or teenager of the time. The whole constitutes an authentic testimony of private correspondence in France during the Trente Glorieuses.

Both the envelope and the letter are in used condition, with traces of folds, slight yellowing and some marks, but the whole remains solid and legible. The stamp and the postmark dated 1960 are well preserved, adding documentary value to this set.

Condition

Used item sold as is, with signs of wear, fold marks and period patina visible on the letter and envelope. The writing remains clearly legible on the part shown. The set is consistent with authentic vintage correspondence.

Did you know? The red stamp on the envelope is a classic of French post offices from the 1960s, representing Marianne, symbol of the Republic. Correspondence from this period constitutes valuable sources for studying lifestyles and language in post-war France.
