Description

An old work titled Les Deux Cousins, presented here in a 1934 edition. The visible cover is light brown paper, with black typography characteristic of early 20th-century French theatrical editions. At the top of the page, this booklet features a purple stamp "Prix net 1.50 L. Billaubot Éditeur" and a handwritten ink signature in the upper right corner. The indicated author is Paul Décard, from the Comédie-Française, highlighting the link of this play to classical French theater. The mention "PARALLÈLE dit par Paul DÉCARD, de la Comédie-Française" is located under the main title, and a decorative monogram adorns the central part of the cover page.

The publishing house, Librairie Théâtrale, based at 3 rue de Marivaux in Paris, is clearly printed at the bottom of the page, along with the edition date: 1934. The cover also bears a legal mention of reproduction and translation rights, typical of French editions of this period. The whole is printed on slightly textured paper, with a matte appearance, and a uniform beige tint. No illustrations or colors other than the black text appear on this visible side. The book is photographed in a library, which highlights its heritage and retro character.

The spine and back of the volume are not visible in this image, but the cover suggests a booklet format, common for texts published for actors and directors. No major defects are apparent on the shown side, with the exception of a slightly folded upper right corner and discreet traces of handling, consistent with the document's age.

The sober presentation, lack of illustration, and neat typography reflect the editorial practices of the 1930s for dramatic literature and theatrical texts. The whole testifies to an authentic edition, both utilitarian and heritage, faithful to the spirit of Librairie Théâtrale publications in Paris.

Condition

The work is used and sold as is. The front shows good general preservation, with some signs of use, a folded upper corner, and a handwritten signature. The publisher's stamp and printing remain clear and perfectly legible.
