Description

This lot consists of four antique religious medals, oval or round in shape, as shown in the photo. Each medal features a distinct religious motif in relief, characteristic of 20th-century Catholic devotional objects. The medals show a gilded patina and traces of wear, testifying to their age and use.

The first medal (top left) depicts a profile portrait of a pope, identified by the inscription "PIVS PP. XI", meaning Pope Pius XI. The details of the crozier, chasuble, and face are finely engraved in relief, in a style typical of devotional medals from the early to mid-20th century.

The second medal (top right) is circular and shows a haloed saint. The partially legible inscription mentions "SANCTA MARIA DOMIN...", with a central motif depicting a nun or saint, hands joined on the chest. The border also shows significant wear from time.

The third medal (bottom left), oval in shape, depicts the Miraculous Virgin, standing with open arms, surrounded by rays. The outline reveals a classic inscription for this type of medal, though partially faded by wear.

The fourth medal (bottom right), also oval, shows the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with the inscription "S. COR. JESU" visible on the border. The relief highlights the radiant heart and the traditional attributes of this iconography.

All four medals have a top ring, allowing them to be worn as a pendant or attached to a rosary. All feature a patinated gilded finish, with oxidation marks and traces of wear corresponding to their age.
