Lot of old sewing tools, button covering pliers, vintage accessories
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This antique lot of sewing tools, presented in an open box, includes a varied set of accessories mainly dedicated to creating and customizing buttons. A button-covering pliers is clearly visible, recognizable by its ergonomic red handles and specific metal jaw, typical of vintage haberdashery tools for attaching or making fabric-covered buttons.
Around this main tool, the lot also contains several visible items: a transparent bag filled with buttons of different sizes and finishes (some with a gold appearance, others more matte), a bright pink ribbon, as well as pieces of trim or lace, including a black specimen with a floral pattern. A spool of black cord, the type used for finishing or attaching certain textile accessories, is also present.
Several old labels and retro-designed instruction manuals, including one yellow and one red, are arranged in the box. One of them bears indications in French relating to after-sales service and warranty. Also present are small ancillary accessories: pins, fabric scraps, and various textile elements, probably intended for embroidery or clothing customization.
The set is presented in a box with discreet floral patterns and an open lid. The overall condition shows signs of use consistent with antique haberdashery items: slight wear on the metal handles, patina on some buttons, and slightly yellowed papers. No major defects are visible on the exposed side.
This lot is intended for traditional sewing, repair, or textile creation, and brings together tools and accessories typical of French haberdashery from the mid to late 20th century. The aesthetics of the labels, the shape of the tools, and the variety of supplies testify to a period set, ideal for rediscovering old sewing gestures and techniques.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. Visible traces of use on several elements (patina, wear on papers and textiles, handled tools). No accessories have been tested; the box contains only what is visible in the photo.
Did you know? Button-covering pliers, widely used in 20th-century sewing workshops, allowed for complete customization of buttons by covering them with fabric matching the garment. This process, still sought after today for bespoke tailoring, offers an elegant and unique finish to textile creations.
