Description

This lot consists of 28 openwork decorative elements, with an antique appearance, intended for ornamentation or the creation of jewelry and decorative objects. Each piece features fine cutwork and a great diversity of patterns, typical of early 20th-century style ornaments. Visible shapes include veined leaves, detailed floral motifs, arabesques, circular rosettes, stylized hearts, and various geometric or vegetal intertwining patterns.

The surface of each charm shows a brown to golden patina, with coppery reflections, evoking an antique brass appearance as mentioned in the keywords. Some elements feature chased reliefs, others opt for an entirely openwork structure, giving the impression of metallic lace. Details are varied: fine veins, flower and foliage patterns, volutes and cutouts inspired by Art Nouveau. Several pieces are teardrop or fan-shaped, others resemble baroque plaques, while the large leaf-shaped elements evoke period vegetal decoration.

The visible ornaments are flat or slightly curved, with no apparent mechanism, suggesting use as a charm, pendant, cabochon setting, or assembly element in costume jewelry or small decorations. The set shows a stylistic unity, with a predominance of floral and nature-inspired motifs, characteristic of the first half of the 20th century.

The diversity of shapes and the finesse of the cutouts allow for multiple uses: creating necklaces, bracelets, earrings, customizing boxes or objects, or creating decorative arrangements. The visible patina on some pieces highlights their vintage character and the authenticity of their antique appearance.

Condition

Used items, sold as is. Patina visible on most pieces, with some traces of oxidation or uniform wear on the surface, without major chips or visible breakage on the photographed side. The general appearance is consistent with old use or storage.

Did you know? Brass was widely used in early 20th-century costume jewelry for its malleability and warm color, reminiscent of gold at a lower cost. Cutting and openwork techniques allowed for the production of complex patterns, popularized notably by Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles.
