Lot of vintage retro old sewing patterns, clothing and accessory patterns
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This lot includes a large number of old sewing patterns, clearly visible in the photo, presented loosely on a table. Several envelopes and plastic bags contain folded sheets, technical diagrams, clothing and accessory sketches, as well as handwritten or printed instructions. Illustrations of female models are distinguishable, some in color, others in black and white, with variations of dresses, tops, or skirts. A diversity of patterns is observable, including technical drawings and cutting plans, sometimes accompanied by handwritten annotations or measurements.
Most of the patterns are in paper format, some with pieces of fabric or samples attached, and several show typical graphics from the 60s to 80s (typography, drawing style, faded colors). Some elements feature floral or geometric patterns, and vintage advertisements or technical notices are also noticeable, inserted with the diagrams.
The visible envelopes bear different brands and logos, some of which appear to correspond to French or international pattern publishers, although the names cannot be precisely read from this view. The documents are mostly in French, but the presence of some English text is not excluded. The patterns are stored in transparent sleeves or resealable plastic bags, indicating a certain care in preservation, despite signs of use and age (yellowed paper, folded corners, small tears on some edges).
The lot includes both complete patterns (diagrams + instructions) and loose sheets, with a wide variety of visible models, ranging from women's clothing to accessories, as well as fashion or creative leisure items. The illustrations feature retro clothing styles, typical of past decades, making this an ideal set for vintage-inspired creations or for recreating period clothing.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. Shows signs of wear and tear, yellowed or creased paper, folded corners, and some minor tears visible on certain patterns. The set remains usable for sewing or decoration.
Did you know? Until the 1980s, paper sewing patterns were the main medium for transmitting home cutting and sewing techniques. Brands like Burda, Vogue, or McCall’s widely disseminated this know-how across Europe and the United States, making fashion accessible at home.
