Description

This lot consists of several vintage insurance premium receipts, all issued by the "LA FONCIÈRE" Life Insurance Company, a well-known company in the French sector in the mid-20th century. The documents presented are typical of the 1940s and 1950s, as evidenced by the typography, stamps, and tax stamps affixed to some copies.

In the photo, each receipt features the name "LA FONCIÈRE" at the top, accompanied by the mention "Compagnie Anonyme d’Assurances sur la Vie" (Limited Life Insurance Company) and the Parisian address: Rue de Grammont, 12, Paris. The forms are printed in black on slightly yellowed paper, with handwritten areas providing the names of the insured, the premium amounts, and the precise payment dates. Handwritten ink inscriptions, typical of this administrative era, are visible.

Some documents bear a vintage tax stamp (e.g., a receipt stamped with 50 centimes and 10 centimes), a detail sought after by collectors of old papers. Round stamps and handwritten signatures authenticate each receipt. The borders feature a simple decorative frame, characteristic of official forms from the early 20th century.

The photo shows at least three distinct receipts, all in rectangular format, with visible indications such as the receipt number, the premium amount (e.g., 151.45 francs), the date (e.g., January 9, 1951), and the agency address (e.g., Rue de Paradis, Marseille). The documents show good visual and historical consistency, with each copy retaining its handwritten specificities.

The paper's patina, traces of handling, and slightly faded print attest to the authenticity and age of these administrative receipts. No superfluous decoration: the style is purely functional, typical of insurance documents and administrative management in the mid-20th century.

Condition

Used items, sold as is. Slight signs of wear, creases, and small visible stains, typical of old documents that have been handled and archived. The inscriptions remain legible on the visible sides.

Did you know? "La Foncière" was one of the main French insurance companies in the first half of the 20th century, founded in 1879. It played a major role in the democratization of life insurance in France, offering contracts accessible to a wider clientele as early as the 1900s, which explains the frequency of its receipts in family and notarial archives.
