Lot of old French used stamps, various designs and values, philately
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This lot brings together a varied collection of French postage stamps, visible in the photo, presented on a dedicated album page. The selection includes several iconic series and issues from French philately, recognizable by their distinctive designs and diverse face values.
At the top of the page are several stamps from the "Marianne au Coq" series, recognizable by the Gallic rooster motif and their varied colors (grey, blue, green, violet, brown, etc.), with face values ranging from 0.25 to 1.50 francs. Most of these stamps bear visible cancellations, indicating their postal use. On the same line, there are also stamps from the "Marianne de Gandon" series, characterized by the representation of the French Republic.
Further down, we can distinguish stamps from the "Semeuse" series, notably in blue and red, as well as issues with floral and heraldic motifs, some of which bear the mentions "POSTES" and "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE". Several stamps feature stylized female portraits, typical of French issues from the mid-20th century.
Also present are fiscal or tax stamps ("TIMBRE TAXE"), identifiable by their specific mention and their uncluttered design. Some stamps bear face values in centimes (0.10F, 0.50F, 0.20F, etc.), with bright colors (orange, green, grey, violet). A blue stamp in the bottom left bears the mention "PÉRÇHINS 5F", while in the bottom right, there is a red 0.50 franc stamp with a stylized motif.
The collection consists of cancelled stamps, some with partially legible round or linear postmarks, others showing slight signs of wear typical of postal use. The stamps display shades of color ranging from blue, red, orange, green, violet to grey, offering a visual palette representative of French philatelic production of the 20th century.
