Lot of old canceled stamps France Europe bulk philately vintage retro
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This presented lot includes a varied collection of old cancelled stamps, visible in bulk in the photo. The selection includes many stamps from France, but also some European examples, all presented on letter fragments or cardboard backings. Several stamps feature heraldic motifs, regional coats of arms, historical figures, landscapes, or various face values, enriching the diversity of this lot.
Among the clearly visible stamps, there are notably "Marianne" 200-franc examples, blue and red patterned stamps, as well as issues illustrating coats of arms or historical scenes. The dominant colors range from blue to red, including shades of green, purple, and yellow, offering a beautiful range of graphic palettes typical of French and European philately of the 20th century.
Some stamps are glued to paper or envelope fragments, sometimes grouped in identical lots, others isolated, indicating partial sorting and storage suitable for conservation. Cancellations are clearly visible on most pieces, confirming their actual postal circulation. Formats vary slightly depending on the issues, and the diversity of visuals indicates an accumulation over different decades, probably from the mid-20th century to the more recent period.
The lot is presented in bulk, without classification by theme or country, revealing a wide variety of designs and values. Visible backings include kraft paper, white, beige, or colored paper. The stamps are generally in used condition, with traces of cancellation, handling, and sometimes slight defects related to age and storage (folded corners, small tears, traces of glue or paper on the back not visible here).
The photo highlights a representative sample of this lot, with a table presentation in front of an old bookshelf, emphasizing the retro and authentic character of this set for philatelists.

Did you know? The postage stamp first appeared in France in 1849, with the famous effigy of Ceres. Issues with heraldic and regional motifs, like those visible in this lot, experienced particular growth from the 1940s onwards, promoting local heritage through philately.
