Description

This lot consists of several canceled French stamps, mounted on document or envelope fragments, displayed on a black background. The stamps presented include issues from the French Republic, as well as fiscal or post-telegraph vignettes. Stamps with dominant green, blue, red, and brown colors are visible, some affixed to cutouts from period administrative documents.

The lot includes a "POSTES & TÉLÉGRAPHES – Bulletin de Communication" stamp, on a fragment, with detailed graphics and a clear cancellation. Several other pieces are mounted on fragments bearing mentions such as "SOCIÉTÉ ANONYME DE COURTAGE," stamped with postmarks dated 1930 and 1932, including values of 5 centimes, 10 centimes, and 30 centimes, accompanied by engraved medallions. One piece displays a "FERNAND LAURENT – MARSEILLE 15 AVR. 1932" postmark.

Also visible are classic French stamps, including an undivided pair of green "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" stamps, an orange "30c PASTEUR" stamp, and a blue "POSTES 5c" stamp. Several cancellations are clearly visible, including "VIEUX-PORT MARSEILLE" and "MASSON FRÈRES 7 MAI 1930."

Some fragments show typical montages of interwar fiscal, telegraphic, or commercial uses, with handwritten or printed mentions. The collection highlights a range of facets of French philately, including various postal and fiscal uses, as well as period postmarks.

The presentation on a dark background allows for appreciation of the visual condition of the stamps, their colors, and the clarity of the cancellations. The original document fragments add historical interest and bear witness to the actual use of these stamps in administrative and postal exchanges of the era.

Condition

Used set, sold as is. Presence of wear, handling marks, folds, or small tears possible on some fragments. Cancellations are generally clear and legible on the visible side. See photo for more details.
