Description This vintage magazine presented is an issue of "Dimanche Illustré", a French weekly, whose visible cover announces issue number 37 dated July 1940 (week of July 21). The front page features the characteristic "D.I" logo in red and black, accompanied by the magazine title "Dimanche Illustré" on a black background. The whole retains the typical graphic aesthetic of the French press of the early 1940s, with a sober layout and an imposing title banner.

The cover page highlights a major article titled "POUR L'HONNEUR DU DRAPEAU" (FOR THE HONOR OF THE FLAG), referring to the commitment of the French in Syria during the Second World War, through the mention "Les Français en Syrie ont lutté jusqu’au bout" (The French in Syria fought to the end). This current event, covered in the press of the time, testifies to the highly marked historical context of the publication.

In the lower part, a large black and white photograph occupies the front page, depicting a fictional scene captioned "UNE NOUVELLE « MADAME SANS-GENE » : ARLETTY" (A NEW "MADAME SANS-GÊNE": ARLETTY). The actress Arletty, an iconic figure of French cinema, appears in period costume, facing a man styled in the 18th-century fashion. The scene is framed by a double black and red line, typical of illustrated magazines of this period.

The visual condition of the cover shows a slight patina of use, typical of old newspapers: the paper has some folds and handling marks, with no major tears visible on the front face. The colors of the banner (red, black, white) remain clear and the texts are perfectly legible. The printing is in bichromy (black and red on a white background), faithful to the newspaper printing technique of the time.

This retro newspaper stands out for its historical interest and the presence of Arletty on the cover, making it a sought-after item by vintage press enthusiasts or cinema history buffs. No information is visible regarding the interior pages in this photo.

Condition Used item, sold as is. Shows visible signs of wear and handling on the cover, with no major apparent defects on the face shown.
