Description

This magazine, visible in the photo, is an old issue of the French periodical "Dimanche Illustré", identifiable by its distinctive "D.I." logo in the upper left corner of the cover. The main title, printed in large black characters, announces: "LES CONVOIS C’EST LA GUERRE crie la presse italienne à l’Amérique" (CONVOYS ARE WAR, screams the Italian press to America). This issue features a typical 1940s layout, with a predominance of black, white, and red on the cover, a characteristic aesthetic of illustrated press from that era.

The central black and white photograph shows a classroom scene, where a young student, pointer in hand, points to words written in chalk on a blackboard. Several children and an adult, probably the teacher, are also visible, illustrating a report on "Le rayonnement français - La petite élève d’une école de l’A.O.F." (French influence - The young student of an A.O.F. school (French West Africa)) as indicated at the bottom of the image. The choice of photograph, as well as the layout, confirms the documentary and educational focus of the magazine.

The cover shows a slight patina of use, rounded corners and some visible marks on the spine, testifying to its age and handling over time. The side binding is visible, suggesting a typical paperback format for newspapers of that period. The price "1.50" printed in red on a white background recalls the economic and editorial context of the 1940s.

The visible paper has a slightly yellowed ivory tint, common for magazines of that era, without the exact material being specified. The cover page does not show the internal content, but highlights the graphic style and informative tone of the pre-war press.

This issue is a testament to the French illustrated press on the eve or during World War II, with a colonial-type report, graphics marked by capital typography and the use of strong contrast between text and photography.
