Vintage New Tintin Magazine #16 – 70s Comic Cover Collector
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This illustrated magazine is a copy of "Nouveau Tintin", a French-language weekly comic book magazine. The visible cover features a humorous scene typical of the Franco-Belgian style, with three characters drawn against a backdrop of palm trees and a sunset, on a blue and orange gradient background. At the top, the title "nouveau tintin" is printed in red and white letters on a blue band, accompanied by the mention "L’hebdomadaire des super-jeunes de 7 à 77 ans" (The weekly for super-young people from 7 to 77).
On the left edge, you can see the mention "n°16", as well as the prices for France and Switzerland ("France: 3.50 F, Suisse: 2.95 F"), which places this issue in the 1970s or early 1980s. The style of the logo and illustration evokes the magazine's transitional period, marked by the appearance of new characters and a more offbeat tone in Franco-Belgian comics.
The cover features comic book characters with typical clear-line graphics, one of whom is hidden behind a palm tree trunk, while another holds a spherical bomb, and a third seems on alert, pipe in mouth and cane in hand. Several humorous elements are integrated: a military helmet, a grenade, a small red flower, and a saber planted in the ground.
The binding is stapled, visible on the left edge, and the cover shows slight signs of use, including a slight central vertical crease and minor wear on the corners, consistent with a period magazine that has been handled but well preserved. The colors remain vibrant and the visual on the front cover is intact.
The entire front is perfectly legible, with no apparent annotations or visible tears. The graphic presentation, the condition of the binding, and the typography correspond to a vintage edition sought after by collectors of old comic press.
Condition
Used magazine, sold as is. Good overall condition for its age: some handling marks, light crease marks on the cover, slightly creased corners, solid stapled binding.
