Description

This lot features an original copy of "Le Nouveau Pif Gadget" magazine, issue number 797. This weekly French magazine, known for its complimentary gadgets, was an iconic publication in youth press during the 1970s and 1980s. The colorful cover displays the title "Pif" in red with black shading, against a yellow and blue background, and the words "et son gadget" (and its gadget) in pink. The issue number shown is 797, dated from a time when the price was set at 9 francs.

The cover highlights several key elements of its content: an episode of "Rahan l'homme-chien" (Rahan the Dog-Man) (2nd episode), a dynamic illustration of Rahan wielding a knife, and a speech bubble stating "Rahan n'a jamais tué un homme!..." (Rahan never killed a man!). Also mentioned are "Les gadgets de l'inspecteur Gadget" (Inspector Gadget's gadgets) and the presence of a featured gadget: "Le désintégrateur de bulles" (The Bubble Disintegrator), illustrated by a child with a futuristic helmet and a toy gun. Two posters are announced: Alain Prost and Karen Cheryl.

The format is typical of youth magazines of the era, with dimensions close to A4. The offset printing offers vivid colors, even though the cover shows visible signs of wear: rounded and blunted corners, creases, signs of use, and the cover is slightly detached at the bottom left. The spine is stapled, consistent with original editions, and the edge shows wear commensurate with the magazine's age.

The interior pages are not visible in the photo, but the cover suggests that this is indeed an authentic edition, with its typical comic strips, games, gadgets, and thematic sections characteristic of Pif Gadget. The cover also mentions international distribution (France, Belgium, Canada, etc.) and the original prices.

This magazine belongs to the "vintage" period of the 80s, recognizable by its graphics, popular characters like Rahan and Inspector Gadget, and the playful spirit of youth press from that decade.

Did you know? Pif Gadget was launched in 1969 and is famous for including novel gadgets in each issue, making the publication a unique phenomenon in Europe.
