Visual Description

This old magazine is a copy of the famous weekly "Tintin," seen here in its French version. The displayed cover is for issue number 1156, as indicated by the red box in the upper left corner. The title "Tintin" is printed in very large, black letters on a red background, with the mention "Hebdomadaire" (Weekly) and a price of 1.20 F. Two cartoon characters, including the famous Snowy, appear in the upper left corner.

The cover features an original and humorous illustration of a caricatured spy dressed in an orange coat, a pink pom-pom hat, and green gloves. He is holding a walkie-talkie, and the speech bubble announces: "He! He! He! Soon, I'll know all their secrets!" The background depicts a modern building, rendered in a clear line style typical of Franco-Belgian comics from the 70s-80s. The mention "L'Espion Jovial" (The Jovial Spy) appears in large letters in a box at the bottom left, with the precision "Est en page 3!" (Is on page 3!).

The magazine shows visible signs of use: slight handling marks and wear along the edges, especially at the bottom left and on the spine. The cover colors remain vibrant, with sharp contrasts between the pastel tones of the drawing and the red of the title banner.

The stapled binding and spine are partially visible: the whole appears flexible, consistent with the appearance of stapled magazines of that era. No major snags, tears, or significant stains are visible on the front.

The cover scene, graphic style, and general presentation place this issue in the "vintage" period of Tintin magazine, highly recognizable by its layout and graphic humor.

Condition

Used magazine, sold as is. Usual period wear on the cover, slightly rubbed corners, but no major visible defects on the front.

Did you know? "Tintin" magazine was launched in 1946 in Belgium, then in France, and influenced several generations of readers. It hosted great Franco-Belgian comic book authors like Hergé, Edgar P. Jacobs, Tibet, and Greg. The graphic style of the cover, known as "clear line," is a direct legacy of Hergé, creator of Tintin.
