Description

This illustrated magazine is a vintage copy of the weekly "Tintin," known for its striking cover and iconic Franco-Belgian comic book series. The featured edition showcases a face-off between Ric Hochet and Sherlock, two iconic figures of illustrated detective stories, against a vibrant red background. The cover scene, by Tibet and Duchâteau, depicts the two characters in raincoats, challenging each other with their gaze, in a graphic style typical of the 1970s-1980s, with clean lines and dynamic composition.

The "Tintin" logo appears at the top, in light blue on a white background, with the tagline "The weekly for super-young people from 7 to 77 years old," characteristic of the editorial line of the time. In the upper right, a vignette highlights another story ("Chevalier blanc the invincible in novel"), while in the lower left is the "Grand Jeu CANAL+" banner, indicating a special promotion from that period.

The titles are printed in yellow and red, strongly contrasting with the background, to draw the eye to the main characters. The graphic composition is typical of illustrated youth magazine covers from past decades, with a large central illustration, colorful text blocks, and promotional inserts. The bottom edge features a reference code ("M2237 – 567 – BFF") as well as the signature of Tibet, the prominent artist of Ric Hochet, and that of Duchâteau, the writer.

The overall condition of the magazine, as observable in the photo, shows a good flatness of the cover, without major creases or visible tears on the front. The colors remain vibrant, the red is not faded, and the corners are generally sharp, with slight signs of wear compatible with an old magazine. The binding is not visible, so it is not possible to infer the condition of the spine.

This issue stands out for the confrontation between two iconic universes of comics and detective novels, brought together on one cover, and for the presence of a period contest, making it a particularly sought-after item for lovers of retro illustrated press.

Did you know? The "Tintin" magazine was founded in 1946 in Belgium, then launched in a French version from 1948. It played a major role in the dissemination of iconic series such as "Ric Hochet," "Blake and Mortimer," or "Michel Vaillant." The alliance between Ric Hochet, a character by Tibet and Duchâteau, and Sherlock Holmes, a figure of British detective novels, testifies to the cross-influence between European comics and classical literature.
