Description

The magazine shown in the photo is issue number 4 of the monthly review "Les Chroniques de Batman". It is a vintage specialized press copy, dedicated to the world of the famous superhero Batman, published by Comics USA. The colorful cover features a striking illustration of the Batman character standing on a stylized architectural backdrop, with two lion sculptures in the foreground. The title "L'ANNÉE BATMAN" (THE BATMAN YEAR) is highlighted in red, accompanied by the names of several recognized American comic authors and artists, including Brian Bolland, Gene Colan, Joe Kubert, Doug Moench, Bill Sienkiewicz, and Alex Toth. The mention "soufflent les 50 bougies" (blowing out 50 candles) is also visible, indicating a tribute issue for the character's 50th anniversary.

The characteristic Batman logo, in yellow and black, is clearly visible below the main title. The mention "NUMERO 4 MENSUEL" (ISSUE 4 MONTHLY) appears on either side of the logo. The cover offers a striking visual contrast between the intense red background and Batman's blue and grey costume, accentuating the dramatic effect of the illustrated scene. The signature "YANN/MAN" is noticeable on the illustration, likely that of the cover artist.

In the bottom right, the "Comics USA" logo indicates the publisher, an important landmark for fans of comics translated into French in the 80s and 90s. The barcode label in the bottom left specifies the original price (France 15 FF, Belgium 110 FB, Switzerland 4.50 FS) as well as the reference "L 1697 - 4 - 15,00 F".

The condition of the cover shows typical signs of wear for a vintage magazine: creased corners, visible folds, scuff marks, and a handwritten inscription on the upper right part. The spine and binding are not visible in this photo, but the front cover suggests regular use.

The format is that of a softcover magazine, typical of French monthly comic publications from the late 20th century. No supplements, posters, or additional content are visible on the displayed side.
