Vintage Retro Old BEM Paris Pressure Gauge, Industrial Measuring Instrument
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Old industrial pressure gauge from the B.E.M. Paris brand, visible on the front of the dial. This measuring instrument has a tubular shape with a circular dial protected by a bright metallic-looking bezel. The dial displays a double graduation: in PSI (pounds per square inch) and in kg/cm², allowing for precise pressure readings. The inscriptions "B.E.M. PARIS" are clearly legible in the center of the dial, with the additional mention "PSI / kg/cm²" at the bottom. The graduation goes up to 225 PSI and 16 kg/cm².
The lower part of the pressure gauge features a threaded metal fitting, typical of instruments designed for direct connection to hydraulic or pneumatic circuits. A hexagonal nut stamped "MULLER BEM PARIS" is visible, attesting to its manufacture in France and its professional origin. The metal surface shows a patina of use, with small marks, scratches, and visible traces of oxidation, characteristic of a used vintage device.
The dial is encircled by a shiny finish, while the central hand, light in color, remains clearly visible against the white background. The dial glass appears intact in the visible area, with no apparent chips or cracks. The whole is presented on a dark blue background, highlighting the contrast with the polished metal and the whiteness of the dial.
This pressure gauge, by its style, graphics, and materials, is typical of French industrial production from the mid-20th century. The dual-unit display, typography, and robust construction are representative of the control instruments used in workshops and factories during this period.
The item is strictly described according to the visible side: the back, bottom, or interior are not visible in the photo and cannot be commented upon.
Condition
Used instrument sold as is, with signs of use, scratches, and visible marks on the metal. The dial and needle are in place, the glass shows no apparent defects in the visible area. Functionality not tested.
Did you know? The B.E.M. Paris brand was a recognized player in the manufacture of measuring instruments in France, particularly for industry and workshops. Dual-scale pressure gauges, like this one, were commonly used in installations requiring quick readings in international and metric units – a growing requirement in European industry from the 1950s onwards.
