Description

This antique manometer is a hydrostatic pressure measuring instrument, designed to indicate water height in meters. The object features a circular face protected by glass, with a graduated scale from 0 to 6 "MÈTRES D'EAU" (METERS OF WATER), clearly legible on the upper part of the dial. The thin, straight black needle is affixed at its center by a visible screw, typical of industrial measuring devices from the mid-20th century.

The dial has a patinated white background, marked by traces of wear and dirt, testifying to its age and use. The rim of the casing displays a metallic finish with a chrome-like appearance, showing traces of oxidation and scratches on the upper left side. The glass appears slightly tarnished by time, but allows for reading the scale and needle without major difficulty.

At the bottom, a solid metal threaded outlet, of industrial type, is visible and was used for connection to a hydraulic system or piping. This base has a dark patina, likely due to oxidation and exposure to humidity, enhancing the authentic appearance of the piece.

The overall item presents an aesthetic typical of vintage measuring instruments, with a robust and functional look. No manufacturer's logo is visible on the front face, with the inscription "MÈTRES D'EAU" being the only mention present. The glass and dial show marks of time, but the object retains a strong visual presence, ideal for industrial decor or educational use.

This manometer is suitable both as a decorative object to place on a shelf or in a workshop, and to complement a collection of antique instruments. Its patina and traces of use make it a true testament to industrial history.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Presence of wear, oxidation marks, dirt, and visible scratches on the casing and glass. The needle and dial are legible, but the glass shows tarnishing due to time.

Did you know? "Meters of water" manometers were commonly used in the hydraulic industry and water supply networks to measure pressure in terms of water column height, a unit very widespread before the generalization of the international system (bar, pascal). Their robust design allowed them to withstand humid and corrosive environments.
