Rare vintage Eagle H.M.S. Cossack model ship with original retro box

Description

An old model ship from the Eagle brand, shown here in its original illustrated box. This is a plastic assembly kit of the H.M.S. Cossack, a Tribal-class destroyer, as indicated on the lid. The box features typical 1950s-1960s graphics, with a colored marine illustration depicting the ship at sea and the reference "H.M.S. Cossack – Tribal Class Destroyer" and the scale "1:1200" clearly indicated.

Inside, the kit consists of gray plastic molded parts, unassembled and still on sprues. The visible elements allow identification of the hull, superstructure, and several small parts corresponding to the ship's armament and accessories. The molding details are fine for the period, with crisp reliefs and a matte finish typical of early plastic kits.

The original paper instructions are also present, printed in French with visible assembly instructions. The rectangular cardboard box retains good rigidity and displays the red Eagle logo "Authentic Plastic Assembly Kit" with a yellow flying eagle.

This model is intended to be assembled and painted by the user. It is a static model, without any apparent mechanism. The overall item evokes the style of naval modeling kits produced in the second half of the 20th century, particularly sought after for their retro appeal and authenticity.

The item has a vintage visual appearance, both in the box design and in the graphic style and presentation of the parts. This type of model was mainly sold in specialized toy stores and model shops during the 1950s to 1970s.

Condition

Used model, sold as is. The visible parts appear complete and unassembled. The box shows signs of age, with slight marks and a patina consistent with its age. Original instructions included. See photo for exact condition.

Did you know? The H.M.S. Cossack (F03) was a British destroyer famous for its participation in the operation to free the prisoner ship Altmark in 1940.
