Description

This antique French medal features a rectangular composition with cut sides, highlighted by a grey metallic finish and a finely grained surface. On the obverse, a high-relief depicts a winged female allegory, standing, holding a laurel wreath, a classic symbol of victory or merit. The representation is carefully crafted, with clear details on the wings, posture, and drapery of the attire.

In the lower part, a gilded circular medallion, applied to the medal, catches the eye with its vibrant colors. It features a red and blue enameled coat of arms, crossed by two intersecting tools (probably corporate or trade symbols) and surrounded by a laurel branch. A blue banner at the bottom of the medallion contains an inscription, but it is not entirely legible in the photo.

The contrast between the grey finish of the background and the golden gleam of the central medallion, enhanced by colored enamels, gives the whole a distinctive style, typical of French decorations from the 20th century. The circular bail at the top allows the medal to be suspended from a ribbon or chain.

The obverse does not show any apparent workshop marks or hallmarks, but the object demonstrates the craftsmanship of a medallist, with precise execution of the reliefs and enamels. The general condition shows a slight patina on the raised parts, with no obvious signs of major oxidation or chips on the visible enamel.

The medal combines the functions of an honorary decoration and a historical souvenir, its iconography evoking an award, a professional or associative distinction, typical of French productions from the interwar period or the years 1950-1970 (retro style).

Used item sold as is. Light patina on the metal, enamel well preserved on the visible side. No major damage or visible missing parts on the front. Wear consistent with the age of the object.
