Vintage bronze medal Fos-sur-Mer DALY Raymond with old box
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This decorative bronze medal, with a vintage look, is presented in its original rigid hinged box. The medal has a rectangular shape with rounded upper edges, featuring an elaborate relief depicting a stylized urban landscape of Fos-sur-Mer, including characteristic architectural elements and a view of the sea. The relief details highlight a typical local scene, with a patinated finish that accentuates the volumes and gives character to the whole.
In the lower part, a cartouche bears the engraved inscription "DALY Raymond", which probably indicates the recipient or laureate of this distinction. The mention "FOS sur MER" appears in large, embossed letters at the base of the medal, reinforcing the geographical anchoring of the object. The inscriptions are clear and legible, while the surface has a granular texture typical of patinated bronze medals from the second half of the 20th century.
The presentation box is light-colored, made of rigid synthetic material, with a molded interior adapted to the shape of the medal. The inside cover reveals an embossed marking "Médaille Déposée" (Registered Medal) as well as an illegible logo, attesting to professional manufacturing. The ensemble evokes distinctions awarded during local ceremonies, commemorations, or municipal events in the 1960s to 1980s, a period during which this type of medal was commonly attributed.
The bronze patina and slight wear visible on the edges attest to the authenticity and age of the object. No deep scratches or major defects are visible on the presented side. The whole is well preserved, both for the medal and for the box, which closes correctly and effectively protects the piece.
This type of medal, sometimes called a commemorative plaque or regional trophy, is appreciated for its retro style and its historical testimonial value. It is a typical object of municipal recognition, which may interest those looking for souvenirs or decorative objects related to the local history of Fos-sur-Mer.
