Description

This French military commemorative medal features meticulous craftsmanship, typical of official 20th-century French Army decorations. The item consists of a vertical ribbon with red, green, and white stripes, on which two gilded metal clasps bearing the inscriptions "SAHARA" and "ALGÉRIE" are attached. These clasps indicate the operational theaters concerned by the award of the medal.

The ribbon is topped with two metal fasteners on the back (visible in the photo), intended for attachment to a uniform or for display. The whole highlights a round, gilded medal, featuring the helmeted profile of Marianne, symbol of the French Republic, surrounded by the embossed inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE".

The medal is suspended from a stylized laurel wreath, also gilded, which connects the ribbon to the main part. The laurel motif, an emblem of victory and merit, underscores the honorary dimension of this military decoration.

The general condition of the medal, as observed in the photo, shows a shiny surface with slight signs of use, mainly visible on the gilded disc and the clasps. The gilded patina of the metal presents an authentic appearance, without major chips or apparent oxidation.
