Gold-plated Atlas History Miniature Globe Anchor Commemorative Edition
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This commemorative medal from the Atlas "Histoire en Miniature" (History in Miniature) collection features a golden finish on the visible side. Round in shape, it has an off-center suspension hole at the top, allowing for easy attachment to a support or keychain.
The relief decoration highlights a stylized globe, a prominent ship's anchor, and an eight-pointed compass rose, evoking maritime exploration and the history of great voyages. A stylized scroll or parchment is also visible at the base, recalling the historical theme of the collection.
The surface shows visible patina, with multiple signs of wear and small stains, mainly located around the edges and on the raised areas. The gilding remains largely present despite these marks of time, giving the whole an authentic appearance.
The medal bears no legible inscription on the presented side. The exact composition is not indicated, but the visual aspect suggests a metallic-effect golden finish.
This type of medal was often distributed in the Atlas edition booklets, specialized in popularizing history through thematic miniature objects.
Condition
Used item sold as is, with visible wear on the gilding and small oxidation marks on the surface. See photo for precise condition.
