Description

This antique religious medal features a round shape enhanced with four raised motifs arranged in a cross at the ends. The piece has an openwork bail at the top, allowing it to be hung on a chain or ribbon. The surface shows a dark and uneven patina, characteristic of old bronze, with traces of oxidation that attest to its age and authenticity.

On the visible side, a raised religious scene is discernible, depicting two standing figures. The details of the design are faded by wear, but the composition remains legible, notably thanks to the interplay of reliefs and hollows on the metal. One of the figures appears to be wearing a loose robe, typical of classic Christian iconography.

Around the scene, a partially legible inscription highlights the sacred nature of the medal. "GLOIRE AUX ?" (GLORY TO THE ?) can be deciphered, as well as the word "Béziers" on the left side, suggesting a link with the city of Béziers or a local religious event. The typography is in capital letters, embossed in the metal.

The general appearance of the medal is that of a popular devotional object, probably intended to be worn or hung. The edges are irregular and feature stylized geometric patterns, reinforcing the decorative aspect of the piece. The brown and coppery patina of the metal accentuates its antique character and gives it a sought-after vintage aesthetic.
