Description

This antique religious medal features a traditional oval shape with an integrated ring for attachment, typical of devotional objects worn as pendants or on a rosary. The visible side displays a detailed relief depicting two female figures in prayer, one of whom is haloed, in a posture of dialogue. The embossed inscription "JE SUIS L'IMMACULÉE CONCEPTION" (I AM THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION) appears clearly on the upper left part of the medal, accompanied by a stylized dove symbol, evoking the Holy Spirit.

The scene seems to illustrate the apparition of the Virgin Mary to a young praying girl, a recurring motif in Catholic iconography and particularly associated with the Immaculate Conception. The style of the relief, the graphics of the inscription, and the patinated finish suggest a production from the first to the second half of the 20th century, without being able to specify the exact period without further clues.

The surface has a silver-plated or matte metal finish, with a homogeneous patina that highlights the sculpted details. The overall condition is characterized by slight wear visible on the raised parts, typical of a used and antique object, with no visible chips or deformations on the front.

A carved signature is also visible at the bottom right of the relief, probably that of the artist or engraver, although the name remains difficult to read in the photo. No other markings or hallmarks are visible on this side.

The edge of the medal is smooth, without additional decoration. The whole demonstrates classic craftsmanship in the creation of religious medals, suitable for daily use or for commemorating a religious event.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Patina of use, light wear on the high reliefs, no apparent chips on the visible side.

This phrase was pronounced during the sixteenth apparition in the Massabielle grotto, becoming a strong symbol of Marian piety in France and in the Catholic world.
