Description

This antique religious medal features a classic oval shape, embossed with the profile of a veiled female figure, most likely the Virgin Mary, according to traditional iconography. The medal shows a patinated gilded finish, with visible traces of wear and oxidation that attest to its age and authenticity. The front surface, the only one visible in the photo, is worked in bas-relief with a deliberately sober rendering, highlighting the facial features and the drapery of the veil.

The pendant is equipped with a solid, also patinated, ring, allowing immediate use as a pendant or attachment to a rosary, chain, or clothing pin. The whole is presented here in an old carved wooden box, which is not, however, mentioned as being included in the sale.

The medal displays an authentic vintage appearance, with a golden hue nuanced with brown reflections and some localized oxidation marks, particularly on the edges and the ring. No text or inscription is legible on the visible side. There is homogeneous wear that gives the object a particular charm, appreciated for its antique character and natural patina.
