Description

This antique Catholic religious medal features a classic oval shape, with a cast-in suspension ring, allowing it to be easily worn on a chain or cord. On the visible side, the medal has a golden-brown patina typical of bronze or copper-look alloy objects, with a matte surface that is slightly satiny under grazing light.

The central iconography depicts Saint Anthony of Padua, recognizable by the relief scene where he is shown with a child, a motif frequently associated with this saint in religious art. The scene is finely modeled, although the details are softened by the age and natural wear of the metal. The relief inscription, partially legible, mentions "A. ANTOINE DE PADOUE" followed by characters that are difficult to decipher (G.C.D.?), which could correspond to a religious abbreviation or a workshop signature.
