Description

This vintage Catholic religious medal features a classic round shape with an integrated bail for hanging. The obverse side boasts a detailed relief depicting a religious scene: a central figure, likely a saint, surrounded by children. The whole is framed by a circular raised inscription: “SANCTA INFANTIA – SINITE PARVULOS VENIRE AD ME”. The design also includes natural elements, such as a stylized palm tree. The medal displays an old gilded finish, typical of devotional objects from the early to mid-20th century.

The surface presents a uniform patina, with golden reflections softened by time, which contributes to its vintage character. The reliefs remain clearly visible despite some traces of wear, mainly on the prominent parts, testifying to previous use. The upper attachment is well-formed and allows for use as a pendant or liturgical keychain. No reverse side is visible in the photo, so the description is limited to the obverse.

The piece is distinguished by careful engraving, characteristic of religious medals of French or European manufacture from the first half of the 20th century. The object rests on a neutral background, highlighting the aged texture of the gilding and the depth of the relief motif. The Latin inscription evokes a biblical passage, reinforcing the spiritual and traditional dimension of the medal.

The medal is photographed in a warm atmosphere, highlighting its golden hues and authentic patina. The overall condition is good for a used item, with signs of wear consistent with age and liturgical or personal use. There are no visible chips or deformation on the part shown.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Old patina, visible wear on the reliefs, gilded appearance softened by time. No chips or apparent structural damage on the visible side.

Did you know? Religious medals bearing the inscription "Sancta Infantia" were often distributed as part of the Society of Holy Childhood, a missionary work founded in France in the 19th century to help children around the world. The passage "Sinite parvulos venire ad me" ("Let the little children come to me") is taken from the Gospel of Saint Mark, emphasizing Christianity's particular attention to childhood.
