Description

This antique religious medal features a classic round shape with an integrated bail for hanging. On the obverse, it displays a raised depiction of the crowned Virgin holding the Child Jesus, both standing. The raised inscription around the edge reads: "N.D. DE ROUGAROL P.P.N.", suggesting a specific sanctuary or devotion. The entire medal has a bronzed patinated finish, with subtle warm nuances and a slightly satin surface.

The central decoration is finely detailed, highlighting the posture of the Virgin, draped in a long gown and holding a scepter in one hand. The Child Jesus is depicted in a blessing attitude. The details of the faces and clothing are still clearly visible despite superficial wear, typical of an object that has passed through decades.

The circular bail, solidly integrated, allows the medal to be worn as a pendant on a chain or cord. The visible edge does not show any additional inscription or marking. The whole is distinguished by a homogeneous patina evoking regular use, without major chips or apparent deformation.

The medal is showcased on an ornate textile support, in natural light that accentuates its golden reflections and matte texture. The contours remain sharp, and the religious iconography is immediately recognizable, making it a typical devotional object from the first to the second half of the 20th century.

Condition

Used item in good overall condition, showing a homogeneous use patina. Some traces of surface wear are visible, without impacting the legibility of the motifs or the structure. Sold as is.
