Description

This antique religious medal has an oval shape and a matte silver finish, typical of devotional productions from the mid-20th century. On the front, it depicts Saint Catherine Labouré in relief, recognizable by her Daughters of Charity cornette headdress and traditional attire. The saint holds two medals in her hands, symbols of the Miraculous Medal, which originated through her. The inscription "S. Caterina Labouré" is clearly engraved in an arc on the upper circumference, accompanied by a small lateral mention "ITALY", indicating Italian manufacture.

The relief work is fine, with particular attention to the details of the face, clothing, and medallions. The outline of the medal is well-defined, highlighting the central scene. The oval bail, placed on the vertical axis, is solid and equipped with a movable ring allowing for easy attachment to a chain, cord, or religious bracelet.

The surface shows a slightly patinated appearance, with small signs of wear visible on the raised parts, indicating pious use or regular wear. The overall hue is silver-grey, without a pronounced shine, enhancing the vintage and authentic look of the medal. There is no superfluous decoration; the composition remains sober and devotional, faithful to classic Catholic iconography.

The reverse is not visible in the photo; only the front is described here. No major apparent defects on the shown side; the object appears to be in good structural condition, with wear consistent with its presumed age.

Condition

Used item sold as is. Shows patination and slight traces of wear consistent with antique use.
