Description

This decorative medal features a high-relief portrait of René Descartes, the famous French philosopher and mathematician. The obverse displays a strong relief, illustrating Descartes' face, long hair, and the distinctive ruff of the era. The whole is surrounded by a Latin inscription: "RENATUS DESCARTES NAT. HAG. TUR. 1596 MORT. INSUEC. 1650". The famous word "COGITO" is also engraved on the lower part of the rim.

The medal has a silvered finish, with a patinated appearance and dark nuances in the recesses, highlighting the detail of the modeling and accentuating the depth of the portrait. The piece is presented in a square red velvet-covered case, adding an elegant touch to the ensemble.
