Description

This antique marathon medal is an authentic piece awarded to the winner of the Marvejols-Mende race in 1988. On its visible side, it features a relief depicting a runner in full stride, typical of sports awards from the late 20th century. The inscription at the top clearly states "MUSTAPHA LEGHNIDER", likely the name of the winner, as well as "17e MARVEJOLS MENDE 23.07.89", indicating the 17th edition of this famous French marathon and the date of the event.

The medal has a patinated bronze-like finish, with some visible traces of oxidation and wear, attesting to its authenticity and age. The embossed lettering "VAINQUEUR 1988" (WINNER 1988) occupies the lower part, highlighting the distinction won. The engraver's signature "DELSAR" is also visible on the right side of the runner, a detail specific to quality medals custom-made for major sporting events.

The reverse side of the medal is not visible in the photo, but the presented side reveals a clear striking, with a regular outline and a slightly granular surface.
