Vintage Génépy des Alpes France mignonette, vintage aperitif decorative bottle
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This antique miniature bottle represents a small Génépy des Alpes liquor bottle, as seen in the photo. The bottle has a slender shape with a narrow neck and a distinct shoulder, typical of miniature liquor bottles from the mid to late 20th century. The bottle is made of transparent glass with a matte appearance, likely due to wear or internal residue, characteristic of objects that have spanned several decades.
The paper label, still present on the visible side, displays in thick black letters the inscription "GÉNÉPY DES ALPES," accompanied by a stylized drawing of mountain ranges and fir trees, evoking the traditional iconography of Alpine regional products. The lower part of the label features a green area with a partially legible inscription, including "elaborated by" and a space for the producer or distributor's name, which is not clearly identifiable in this image. Another cartouche at the bottom right indicates "apéritif."
The cap is a simple capsule type, with no apparent distinctive sign on the visible side. The entire object exhibits a consistent patina, with traces of time and marks, particularly on the label, which shows signs of wear, slight discoloration, and slightly dog-eared edges. No liquid is visible inside the bottle on this side.
This type of bottle was often used as a sample or souvenir, particularly in French Alpine tourist regions. The graphic aesthetic and label style suggest manufacturing from the 1970s to 1980s, although this cannot be asserted absolutely without further indication.
The miniature bottle stands out for its authentic appearance and the retro typography of its label, making it an appreciated decorative item for a display case, a vintage bar, or the recreation of a period setting. It can also serve as a curiosity for the history of French regional aperitifs.
