Mignonette Verbena Pagès vintage France liqueur digestif 55% Distillery
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This antique mignonette represents a verbena liqueur produced by the Distillerie du Velay, under the Pagès brand. The visible bottle is miniature, with a classic cylindrical shape and a narrow neck, suitable for samples or tasting sizes. The original label, well-preserved despite some signs of wear, is predominantly green with gold and red lettering. It clearly reads: "Verveine," "La liqueur digestive," "Pagès," as well as "55%" indicating the alcohol content, and the mention "Distillerie du Velay – Le Puy (Haute-Loire) France." The year "1859" appears at the top of the label, recalling the establishment of the house. The original metal cap is still present, with visible oxidation marks and residues, testifying to the bottle's age.
The bottle exhibits clear transparency, allowing the light-colored liquid inside to be seen. No cork stopper is visible; the closure is secured by a screw cap made of metal, partially covered with a plastic film or protective wax. The typography of the label, as well as the stylized plant graphic, evoke an aesthetic from the 1960s to 1980s, typical of French liqueur productions of that period.
The bottle is placed on a golden rocaille-decorated tray, highlighting the decorative and vintage character of the object. No major defects are visible on the presented side, apart from drip marks and some wear on the cap and label. The ensemble displays a beautiful patina, true to a vintage object preserved as is.
The clearly legible Pagès brand is associated with the tradition of Velay verbena, a regional specialty renowned for its digestive properties and herbaceous taste. This mignonette format is appreciated for display cases, bar decor, or curious objects related to the world of French spirits.
The mention "55%" on the label indicates a high alcohol content, characteristic of traditional verbena liqueurs. The graphic style, the cap, and the overall presentation fully correspond to a vintage object of French origin.
