Vintage men's Sandoz watch, old cream dial, for restoration, 50s-60s
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description Men's wristwatch by Sandoz, shown without a strap, presented in a case with a white lining and a burgundy velvet-effect exterior. The case has a patinated metallic finish, typical of antique watches. The cream-colored dial shows a slight uniform patination and signs of use; it is adorned with applied gold hour markers, alternating dots and Arabic numerals (12 and 6), as well as gold hands. A blued central second hand completes the ensemble, a characteristic detail of mid-20th century mechanical watches. The stylized and clearly legible Sandoz logo below the 12 o'clock marker adds a touch of authenticity to this model.
The bezel, also with an aged metallic appearance, frames a slightly domed crystal. The lugs are long and thin, with visible wear on the finish, accentuating the vintage charm of this piece. The crown, positioned at 3 o'clock, has a simple appearance, with no discernible logo on the visible face. No strap is present on the watch, revealing the lugs and facilitating future customization with a strap of one's choice.
The dial shows some signs of age, including small spots and a general uniform patination, common on unrestored antique watches. The gold markers and hands show slight oxidation, particularly visible in the light. The crystal appears to be original, with some superficial scratches perceptible depending on the angle.
The general style evokes watchmaking productions from the 1950s-1960s, recognizable by the sobriety of the dial, the streamlined design, and the absence of complications other than the central second hand. The whole forms an ideal base for restoration or a watchmaking project, or for lovers of vintage watches with an authentic aesthetic.
Condition Used watch, sold as is, untested and to be restored. Shows visible signs of wear, patination, scratches, and oxidation on the dial, case, and hands. No strap. Operation not guaranteed.
