Vintage Artex hexagonal pendant watch to restore, patinated dial
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Antique Artex pendant watch, with a singular aesthetic, identifiable by its elongated hexagonal case. The dial, visible in the photo, shows a pronounced patina testifying to its age, with stylized Arabic numerals and a peripheral minute track. The "pear" style hands are blackened by time. The watch is suspended from a vintage-looking leather strap, fastened by two visible metal attachments on the upper part of the case. The side winding crown is clearly visible on the right flank of the case.
The metallic-finish case shows traces of oxidation and signs of use, characteristic of antique timepieces. The hexagonal geometry, rare for this type of watch, evokes an Art Deco or 1930s-1940s style, although the precise inscription on the dial is only partially legible. However, the word "Artex" is clearly visible in the center, just below the hands' axis.
The dial features a matte gold background, altered by time, with beige and sepia nuances. The indices and numerals are printed in black, with slight wear on some parts, particularly around the 12 o'clock numeral and at the base of the dial. The bezel and attachments show uniform wear, without any visible chips or breaks on this side.
The watch is mounted on a thin leather strap, whose brown hue and marked texture add to the authentic appearance of the whole. A slight twisting of the strap is noted, probably related to the object's age or prolonged use. No additional decoration or marking is visible on this side of the case.
The general composition, combining a hexagonal case and leather, gives this pendant watch a decorative character and a strong vintage presence. The whole is photographed under glancing light, highlighting the patina and the reliefs of the metal.

Did you know? The Artex brand, mainly active in the early 20th century, offered watches that were both robust and original, often recognizable by their atypical shapes, like this hexagonal case. This type of pendant watch was particularly appreciated for its dual function: a fashion accessory and a personal timepiece, worn around the neck or attached to clothing.
