Vintage rectangular watch Elog Swiss mechanical patinated dial, brown strap
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Rectangular mechanical wristwatch signed Elog Suisse, presented here in an ornate wooden box. The visible case has a silver metallic appearance with signs of wear and a uniform patina. The light-colored dial features black Arabic numerals (12, 3, 6, 9 visible), as well as a small seconds hand at 6 o'clock. The classic-style hands are also visible despite significant oxidation. The dial bears the inscription "ELOG" and "SUISSE", confirming the Swiss origin of the piece.
The dark brown strap has a smooth finish with no apparent pattern on the visible side. It is attached by straight lugs, typical of old rectangular-style watches. No decorative details are visible on the upper part of the strap, which appears to be leather or imitation leather (material not specified).
The general style of the watch, with its rectangular case, thin hands, and patinated dial, evokes productions from the first half of the 20th century, probably from the 1930s to the 1950s. The bezel is straight, with no engraved decoration, and the winding crown is classically positioned at 3 o'clock.
The dial shows signs of age: uniform patina, oxidation marks, slight signs of wear on the glass surface. The case has some micro-scratches and wear of the original plating, typical of a piece that has lasted several decades.
The watch is photographed resting on white lace, in a wooden box with gold decoration, which highlights its vintage aesthetic and retro character. No structural defects are visible on the presented face.

Did you know? The Elog Suisse brand is one of those small Swiss manufactures active in the 20th century, whose production targeted customers looking for reliable mechanical watches at an affordable price. Rectangular cases were particularly popular in the 1930s-1950s, a period when Art Deco inspired many geometric shapes in watchmaking.
