Vintage Adra mechanical watch movement 10 jewels octagonal dial parts
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Detailed Visual Description
This lot is for a vintage mechanical watch movement from the Adra brand, intended for parts recovery or watchmaking restoration. The visible dial is octagonal, with a light finish showing significant patination, indicating its age. The numbers 12 and 6 are in relief, in a minimalist style, while the other indexes are indicated by geometric markers, also in relief. The inscription "ADRA" is clearly visible below the number 12 and "10 JEWELS" in the center of the dial. The mention "D61" is handwritten or engraved in the lower part of the dial.
The movement is partially visible, with its notched winding crown on the right. The whole presents traces of oxidation, dirt, and uniform wear, typical of a vintage watch component that has not been restored. The hands are present, dauphine style, with the hour hand positioned towards the bottom left and the minute hand towards the left, both showing traces of oxidation and some tarnishing.
The dial displays a white or cream hue, altered by time, and grayish shades due to oxidation. The front face is the only one visible in the photo, and no case or back is visible. The item rests on a carved wooden support, which is not included in the sale.
The style and typography suggest production from the mid-20th century, typical of European mechanical watches of that period. The mention "10 jewels" indicates the presence of 10 rubies in the movement, a criterion of quality for traditional mechanical movements.
This movement is particularly suitable for parts recovery or repair of similar Adra watches, especially for those seeking a vintage dial with character and authentic patina.
Condition
Used item sold as is, untested, showing traces of wear, oxidation, dirt, and patination. Ideal for parts, restoration, or a watchmaking project.
Did you know? "10 jewels" movements refer to mechanical watches equipped with ten synthetic rubies, used as bearings to reduce friction and improve the longevity of the mechanism. The Adra brand, less known than other Swiss houses, produced many movements in the 1950s-1960s intended for the assembly of affordable quality watches.
