Description

This lot features a Meritex mechanical watch movement, of Swiss origin, presented without its case. The item visible in the photo is a rounded octagonal dial with a vintage style, adorned with an embossed guilloche pattern across its surface. The dial is light-colored, likely silver-toned or off-white, with applied stick-type gold indices and Arabic numerals at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions. The hands are also gold-toned, of dauphine type, and the second hand appears to be absent.

The inscription "MERITEX" is clearly legible below the 12 o'clock numeral, accompanied by "SWISS MADE" at the bottom of the dial, attesting to the Swiss origin of the mechanism. The inscription "17 JEWELS" is also visible below the center, indicating a 17-jewel mechanical movement, characteristic of quality watches from the second half of the 20th century. The fluted crown, visible on the right, features a two-tone gold and light appearance, with a central motif matching the dial.

The dial surface shows two small holes at the top and bottom, typical of parts intended to be cased. No case, strap, or back is visible: it is therefore a bare movement, offered for parts, repair, or restoration. The dial's finish, with its regular wavy patterns, evokes Swiss watchmaking productions from the 1960s to 1970s.

The movement is photographed resting on a varnished wooden box, which highlights its light hue and the shine of the gold-toned elements. No other part of the movement is visible in the photo, notably neither the internal mechanism nor the back.

Condition

This mechanical watch movement is sold used and as-is, without case or strap. Traces of wear, light scratches, and signs of use are visible on the dial; the functionality of the mechanism has not been tested. Ideal for parts recovery or watch restoration.
