Description

This antique sewing kit, presented in an elegant octagonal box with a green satin lining, comprises several visible instruments: a pair of stork-patterned scissors, a thimble, and two accessories with dark faceted handles and a large-eyed needle. The entire set, with the exception of the scissors as per the keywords, is made of silver. The scissors are richly decorated, featuring a chiseled stork shape, typical of Napoleon III era productions. The box has a rigid exterior, and its interior is lined with green satin on the lid, although this shows two visible areas of wear in the center. The beige base of the box accommodates each tool in a custom-cut recess, with a slight patina and some stains on the textile part.

The classic-shaped thimble is positioned at the top of the box. The two accessories with black faceted handles, likely an awl and a darning needle, feature a shiny finish and a simple design, without additional visible ornamentation. The large-eyed needle, inserted horizontally, completes this functional set. The stork scissors, well-proportioned and decorated with precise engravings, show slight oxidation due to age, characteristic of Napoleon III objects. No markings or hallmarks are visible on the exposed face.

Condition

The set is pre-owned and sold as is. Visible signs of wear on the satin lining of the box (material loss), patina and small stains on the textile base, oxidation on the tools, particularly on the scissors. The tools appear complete on the visible side, but the exact working condition is not guaranteed.
