Description

This piece represents a decorative miniature shell, military in style, whose shape clearly evokes the artillery projectiles of the First World War. The main part is cylindrical with a flat base, topped by a pointed ogive that opens via a hinge system visible in the photo. The whole presents an old patina, with golden and browned nuances typical of aged brass.

The body of the object is covered with light marks and irregularities testifying to its age and prolonged handling. The ogive, in the shape of a rounded cone, shows uniform wear, with no apparent decoration or inscription visible on this side. A small threaded pin, placed on top of the cylinder, holds the mobile upper part and suggests a simple opening mechanism, typical of repurposed military objects or trench art.

The whole presents a sober industrial appearance, without ornamentation, characteristic of utilitarian objects or souvenirs made from reclaimed shell casings or artillery elements. The finish reveals the warm hue of the brass, with a slightly pitted surface in places, reinforcing the authentic and ancient character of the piece.

The visible face has no engraving or decoration, which highlights the purity of the form and the contrast between the cylinder and the ogive. The apparent, rudimentary mechanism attests to artisanal manufacturing or manual transformation, a common practice during or after the 1914-1918 period.
