Description
This vintage document is a medical prescription or examination sheet, issued in 1953 by Doctor Ranque, a medical biologist in Marseille (16, rue Dragon, 6th arrondissement). The item presented is a sheet of old-looking paper, with a professional letterhead printed in black, bearing the inscription "Docteur Ranque – Médecin Biologiste", accompanied by various contact information and a list of proposed medical analyses (blood tests, urine, histology, etc.).
The upper part of the document displays clear typographic printing, typical of medical forms from the mid-20th century in France. Several medical examinations and dosages are mentioned, reflecting the practice of medical biology during that period. A metal staple is visible on the left side, suggesting that this sheet was part of a file or a set of medical documents.
The lower part contains handwritten annotations in blue ink, including the date "January 13, 1953", an examination number (556233), as well as the patient's name ("Geneviève Blanc") and the signature of the doctor or professor who prescribed the examination. The cursive writing and slightly patinated ink attest to the age of the piece. No back side is visible in the photo.
The whole offers an authentic patina, with slight traces of time visible on the paper: slightly curled corners, discreet marks due to handling and storage, without any apparent tear on the visible side. The style of the document, the typography, and the presentation fully correspond to a French production from the early 1950s, in the post-World War II context.
This type of document is sought after for historical documentation, the reconstruction of old medical atmospheres, or the study of medical practice and biology in France in the 20th century. It constitutes a primary source for medical historians or lovers of old papers.
Condition
Used vintage item, sold as is. Shows visible signs of age on the exposed side: slight patina, curled corners, intact handwriting. No major tears or pronounced stains on the visible part.
