Description

This pair of antique pétanque balls features a shiny, metallic-looking finish, typical of manufacturing from that era. Each ball has a smooth surface adorned with regular concentric grooves, characteristic of the classic design of traditional pétanque balls. The number "628" is clearly engraved on each ball, indicating an identification or series mark specific to certain older models.

The two balls visible in the photo rest on a soft navy blue stand, which highlights their reflective surface. No specific manufacturer's mark is visible on the side shown, with the exception of the aforementioned numbering. The reflections on the surface suggest an authentic patina and slight tarnishing, consistent with previous use and age.

The crossed grooves on the balls ensure a good grip and are reminiscent of classic models used for recreational or competitive pétanque during the 20th century. The absence of decorative patterns or additional color gives the set an elegant sobriety, enhanced by the apparent metallic sheen.

The presentation on a dark blue stand highlights the contrast with the balls' silver hue. No additional accessories (jack, carrying bag, etc.) are visible in the image. The two balls appear to be of identical size, with a regular spherical shape and no apparent structural defects on the photographed sides.

The surface condition shows some micro-scratches and signs of use, typical of antique pétanque balls, but no major deformation is visible on the exposed areas.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Presence of some superficial marks and signs of use. The surface retains a beautiful shine despite slight signs of wear visible in the light.

Did you know? Metal pétanque balls appeared in the 1920s, gradually replacing studded wooden models. Numbering on the balls allowed players to identify their set during official competitions, a practice still common today.
