Description

This original document is an old sewing pattern dated August 1, 1957, taken from the weekly free supplement "Femmes d'Aujourd'hui" No. 639. It features two distinct models: a women's blouse (size 44) and a men's sports shirt (size 48), illustrated in large size on the page. The graphic style is typical of the 1950s, with clean lines and detailed clothing designs.

The visible side shows a diagram of each garment being worn: the woman is wearing a long-sleeved blouse with a classic collar and printed patterns, while the man is wearing a large-check sports shirt with four patch pockets and buttoned flaps, inspired by men's fashion of the late 1950s. Sewing details are highlighted, notably the pocket tabs and the finishes on the bottom of the sleeves. Two small technical sketches, placed below the main figures, show the back cut of the shirts.

The document is printed on paper with a slightly yellowed appearance, characteristic of paper from that era. The visible text indicates the instructions for making the models and specifies the necessary yardage (2.85 m by 0.90 m). The header clearly mentions the date, the origin of the supplement, and the sizes concerned. No commercial brand is indicated, but the publication "Femmes d'Aujourd'hui" refers to a well-known periodical in the field of 20th-century fashion and home sewing.

The entire document is presented in a wooden frame, with a part of the spine of an old book visible on the left, adding a touch of retro charm to the presentation. No other accessories or patterns are visible in the photo.

This old pattern is attractive for its period graphics, detailed instructions, and its documentary value for recreating or creating vintage clothing, for both women and men.

Condition

This sewing pattern is used and sold as is. The page shows even yellowing, some small signs of wear, and slightly curled corners, with no visible tears on the shown side. The inscriptions and illustrations remain legible and clear.

Did you know? The magazine "Femmes d'Aujourd'hui", launched in Belgium in 1933, was for a long time one of the most widely circulated French-speaking European titles for fashion, practical advice, and sewing patterns. Pattern supplements were very popular and allowed readers to follow trends while making their own clothes at a time when home sewing was common.
