Description

This antique sewing pattern, titled "Patron Modèle" (Pattern Model), was published by the magazine L'Echo de la Mode. It is a vintage paper pattern designed for making children's clothing, likely from the 1960s, as suggested by the graphic aesthetic, typography, and clothing style depicted. The model shown on the cover features a long-sleeved blouse and short culottes, typical of children's clothing from that period.

The front of the pattern displays large pastel-colored illustrations, showing a boy and a girl dressed in the outfit to be made. A loose blouse with a square collar and two large patch pockets is visible, along with matching puffy culottes. Several technical sketches on the left detail the assembly steps, accompanied by instructions in French. The number "65 147" appears in the upper right, identifying the model's reference. A handwritten annotation "Monnier" is also visible in blue ink, as is the size "2 to 4" years, indicated on a glued label.

The pattern features a typical layout for fashion publications of the time, with clear instructions, technical diagrams, and a large central illustration. The dominant colors are pale pink, light blue, and white, with black details for outlines and text. The mention "ÉDITÉ PAR L’ECHO de la MODE" (PUBLISHED BY L'ECHO de la MODE) is printed at the bottom of the sleeve, confirming the publisher. The lower left corner states "REPRODUCTION EN SÉRIE INTERDITE" (MASS PRODUCTION FORBIDDEN).

Some signs of wear are visible on the sleeve: creases, wrinkles, small tears on the edges and corners, as well as slight discoloration due to age. The illustrations remain clear and perfectly legible. The back part and the interior contents of the pattern are not visible in the photo.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The sleeve shows signs of use: folds, creases, and minor wear at the edges. Illustrations and text are well preserved on the visible side.

Did you know? L'Echo de la Mode, founded in 1901, was one of the most widely circulated French women's magazines of the 20th century. It regularly offered cut-out patterns for home sewing, allowing families to access fashion at a lower cost until the 1970s.
