Description

This artwork depicts a reclining female nude, rendered in a palette of browns, ochres, grays, and muted pinks. The figure, seen in profile, stands out against an interior background structured by vertical color blocks and luminous golden yellow passages.

The painting is executed on canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher, without a frame. The pictorial material reveals the weave of the canvas, with measured impasto, brush reworkings, and a slightly glossy surface. The signature is at the bottom right: De Goff - 73. The reverse also has handwritten inscriptions, including the mention "Nu" (Nude) and a size indication.

Context

Dated 1973, this canvas is part of a figurative production from the second half of the 20th century, where the nude remained a privileged studio subject. The free treatment of the material, the supple contours, and the warm palette give the composition a decorative and pictorial presence, between a model study and an interior scene.
