Description

This antique pendant is an oval religious medal, featuring the Virgin Mary in relief on the visible side. The piece has a patinated metallic finish, evoking an ancient object. The relief design highlights the silhouette of the Virgin, with her hands open downwards, in an attitude of blessing and intercession, a classic motif of so-called "miraculous" medals.

Around the central figure, an inscription in capital letters is clearly legible: "O MARY CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN PRAY FOR US WHO HAVE RECOURSE TO THEE." This phrase, typical of Virgin Mary medals, is finely chiselled along the edge, reinforcing the sacred and traditional aspect of the object. The solid, rounded attachment ring is integral to the top of the medal, allowing for simple suspension on a chain or cord.

The surface of the medal shows a homogeneous patina, with slight signs of wear visible mainly on the raised areas, which accentuates the contrast and legibility of the motif. The edges are regular, slightly rounded, without apparent roughness. The whole object gives an impression of robustness and authenticity, characteristic of ancient religious objects.
