Description

This antique pendant, which can also be used as a small brooch depending on the attachment configuration, features an openwork oval mounting adorned with a rectangular cabochon with cut sides in an intense blue color. The central element evokes enamel or a colored glass stone, with a luminous effect and deep reflections, while the openwork frame recalls ornamental motifs of Baroque or Neo-Renaissance inspiration.

The piece's perimeter is worked in relief, alternating intertwined motifs, small raised pearls, and decorative twists. The mounting displays a patinated gilded finish, giving the whole an authentic appearance and retro charm. The suspension ring, visible at the top, allows the object to be used as a pendant on a thin chain or ribbon, but the structure also suggests use as a brooch depending on the rear attachment (not visible in the photo).

The surface of the blue cabochon shows some typical signs of use, with slight scratches and wear, highlighting the antique character of the piece. The details of the metal frame show a natural patina, accentuating the relief of the motifs and reinforcing the vintage dimension of this costume jewelry.

The ensemble stands out for its decorative style and the vibrancy of the central color, ideal for accessorizing an outfit or complementing a collection of retro jewelry. The object is presented on a wooden stand, highlighting the brilliance of the cabochon and the delicate openwork.

Condition

Used item sold as is, with visible signs of wear: fine scratches on the blue surface, patina, and small marks on the mounting.

Did you know? Colored glass cabochons were commonly used in costume jewelry from the early to mid-20th century to imitate precious stones, while offering a wide choice of colors and shapes at a lower cost. This type of openwork setting is inspired by Baroque and Victorian ornaments, very popular in the creation of retro and costume jewelry.
