Description

This antique pendant depicts a Catholic religious cross, typical of 20th-century communion items. The visible side shows a four-armed cross, each adorned with a religious scene or figure in relief, probably representations of saints or the Virgin Mary, common on this type of liturgical jewelry. The center of the cross is decorated with an eucharistic motif, identifiable as a monstrance or chalice, a symbol of communion. At the bottom, an oval medallion in relief features a silhouette, undoubtedly the Virgin Mary, in the tradition of miraculous medals.

The pendant has a patinated finish, with a matte silver-gray color and visible traces of oxidation, highlighting its age and authenticity. The relief work is fine, with well-defined details on each scene, allowing for easy identification of the religious motifs. The cross is equipped with a metal suspension ring, suitable for a chain or cord, and the bail is original, in a condition consistent with the whole.

The contours of the cross are sharp, the central decoration is surrounded by a slightly ribbed rim, and each arm of the cross bears a distinct raised cartouche.
